Graduate Student Successfully Defends Thesis on Evaluating Host Resistance to Macrophomina Crown Rot

Graduate student Jonathan Winslow (UC Santa Cruz, Environmental Studies/ Agroecology, ‘14) successfully defended his master's thesis titled "Evaluation of host resistance and the utilization of organic amendments to manage Macrophomina crown rot of strawberry in California.”  Winslow is the third student to earn a master’s degree through the Cal Poly Strawberry Center. Winslow’s committee chair, Professor Kelly Ivors said, “One of the unique things about Jonathan's project was that he actually wrote the proposal that funded it. It's very rare that a student does this."
